The Psalms occupy a unique space in scripture. They are both God’s revelatory words to humanity, and humanity’s words back to God. The Psalms were lifted up daily alongside the sacrifices in the Old Testament, and they were the prayers he Lord Jesus grew up with.
Within the pages of the Psalms, no human emotion is left untouched—fear, joy, grief, victory, guilt, and anger all find a voice. As Eugene Peterson aptly noted about the psalms, “They are the tools we use to learn to pray in the middle of our lives, as they are, not as we wish they were." In short, the Psalms give us language for the experience of life.
This is going to be a special study. I hope you'll join us as we study God's Word and bolster our prayer lives!
