TVC Responsibilities:
The Disability Care Minister exists to provide a Christ-centered refuge of transformation, hope, and support through creation, implementation, and oversight of the Disability Care ministries.
When and how did the Lord save you?
Raised in a Christian home, I knew about God from an early age, but my personal turning point came at a youth camp in middle school. That’s when the Lord captured my heart, showing me that salvation isn't an achievement earned through good behavior or earthly accomplishments, but rather a gift received by grace through faith in Jesus.
When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
My husband and I joined the TVC family in 2013. We quickly found a community and started serving as volunteers. We knew TVC was where we wanted to raise our children and grow in our faith.
If you had to give a TED Talk, what subject would you choose to speak on, and why?
From Welcome to Wanted: Moving Beyond Disability Inclusion to True Belonging. Disability inclusion asks, "How do we make room for you?" True belonging says, "We are incomplete without you." People with disabilities are not a ministry project to be served, but indispensable members of the Body of Christ without whom the church is incomplete.
If you were to have your childhood dream job, what would your job be?
Astronaut. Space is fascinating to me!
Which fictional character would you be friends with in real life, and why?
Leslie Knope, because she is fiercely loyal, celebrates everything, serves others selfishly, values friendship, and is relentlessly optimistic. Leslie embodies the kind of friendship described in Proverbs 27:17: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." She would cheer me on, challenge me to grow, and remind me that I’m capable of more than I think.
