TVC Responsibilities:
I lead the Operations Department, providing direction, oversight, and subject-matter expertise to Facilities, Technology, Finance, and Administration. I represent my staff as part of the Executive Team, where we operationalize and harmonize the mission, vision, and values of the church. I also serve as a member of the Risk Mitigation Team.
When and how did the Lord save you?
Growing up in the Bible Belt, Christianity was all around me. I went to church and knew the Scriptures, but it was more about checking boxes than a real relationship with Christ. College removed me from the bubble of my Christian home, giving me freedom to do as I pleased, so that’s exactly what I did. I pursued whatever I felt my heart desired, which always included me but never seemed to include God—but even then, in the midst of my self-centeredness, I could still sense Him calling me back to Himself. When I moved to DFW for work, something shifted. I started pursuing a relationship with Christ because I genuinely desired it and realized I was empty without it. Things began to click for me—the cross, grace, forgiveness—it all started making sense in a way it never had before. That’s when my relationship with Jesus truly began, when “Christian” changed from a cultural label to become my identity, the source of belonging and purpose in my life.
When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
A few years after the Lord changed my heart, I heard a guy named Matt Chandler preach at Prestonwood’s Metro Bible Study. When I found out Matt had taken the lead pastor position at Highland Village First Baptist Church, I showed up on his first official Sunday—December 8, 2002. Shortly thereafter, I started lay-leading the Singles Ministry and later was asked to lead our first-ever “Expansion Team.” Eventually, I felt called to do church operations full-time, so my plan was to quit my job and leave TVC so I could do that somewhere—and then Matt asked, “Well, what if you do it here?” And the rest, as they say, is history.
Which fictional character would you be friends with in real life, and why?
Ford Prefect. He’s a hoopy frood who really knows where his towel is.
Favorite Hobby:
Researching things. (But seriously—that’s what I do in my leisure time. I look things up and learn about them.)
