When and how did the Lord save you?
I grew up in Paris, Texas, the oldest of four. My mom was the force that got us to church. My dad didn’t come often, mostly at holidays. We went to First Baptist Church in Paris. First Baptist had all the traditional programs: Sunday school, VBS, Wednesday night prayer meeting complete with dinner before, choir, GAs, RAs, and an annual Revival. It was at one of the children’s events for revival that Jesus saved me. I was in the 2nd grade. I understood with a childlike understanding that I was a sinner and did not want to be separated from Jesus ever. I don’t remember exactly how they asked for those the Lord had called to come to the front, but whatever was said, I remember I couldn’t stay seated.

When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
My son was playing on a soccer team with another boy on our street. This boy’s grandparents were at most of the soccer games, and the granddaddy and my husband, Phil, would find all sorts of things to talk about. This granddaddy was Del Steele. You may have heard stories about this man and his faith. Mr. Steele knew a little bit of our story and asked if we were in a church. We weren’t at the time, and he told Phil, “You really need to come hear my Preacher Boy!” We did a week or so later, and oh my goodness. This place was so very different than other churches we had been a part of, and even though Matt was preaching the heavy and important things of God, he wasn’t presenting a God who was angry. He presented a God full of grace and love. It was so convicting and, at the same time, refreshing and encouraging. I began working at TVC in August of 2007. My family has been blessed by this place for a long time.

Favorite Hobby:
I love to go antiquing—looking for old dough bowls, beautiful old dishes, teacups and saucers, and neat furniture pieces. The hunt for a fun, new-to-me item is the best!
