William Raies

Will Raies

Worship Minister

Also known as:
William (actual name), Bill, Billiam

TVC Responsibilities:
I shepherd our church body through worship leadership and exhortation in a variety of gatherings. I develop worship leaders through our residency, volunteer care, and Worship Academy (for students). I oversee all of our volunteer ministry leads and participate in administration for worship in various ministries throughout the church.

When and how did the Lord save you?
Being raised as a pastor’s kid, I remember my parents faithfully teaching me about the saving work of Christ. The Lord saved me at the young age of 6, but I did not fully understand what it meant to make my faith my own until I attended a youth camp in junior high. Throughout high school and college, I struggled deeply. I carried the burden of earning the approval of others to feel self-worth. Instead of finding my identity in Christ, I found it in people’s opinions, and when I was not receiving the attention I thought I deserved, it led to discouragement, depression, and anger. At my lowest, I experienced thoughts of suicide. It wasn’t until the end of my sophomore year of college that the Lord graciously picked me up and showed me that I had been made acceptable to God in Christ alone. I learned that God heals and restores His children when they cling to Him. He turned my desperate need for approval into a desperate desire for people to feel the same love and comfort I experienced through the gospel.

When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
I joined The Village’s Dallas Northway campus (now Northway Church) while attending Dallas Baptist University in 2010. There, I served as a volunteer in both the Worship and Student ministries. After graduating from college, I was a Worship Intern at TVC’s Flower Mound campus for two years, where I met my wife, Kellie. We stayed at TVC as members and volunteers for the next few years until I had the opportunity to join the staff full-time in 2020. I was drawn to TVC because of the gospel-saturated teaching, spirit-filled worship, and genuine community where it was okay to not be okay.

Favorite Hobby:
I am a major Dallas Mavericks fan and try my best never to miss a game. Attending an NBA game in-person is one of my favorite experiences, especially playoff basketball.
