Sam Wolfe

Senior Director, Finance & Administration

TVC Responsibilities:
I ensure timely and accurate processing and reporting of all financial activity. I oversee the annual financial audit, advise church staff, leadership, and members in church financial matters, lead major financial projects, such as annual budgeting and capital campaigns, and provide strategic direction on compliance and administrative matters.

When and how did the Lord save you?
I grew up in a Christian family and was raised in church. I knew a lot of facts about the Bible, but I didn’t have a true understanding of the gospel until later in life. Growing up, I believed that where I spent eternity all depended on my own efforts and understanding. The faith I thought I had was rooted in pride and self-sufficiency. It was when I started attending TVC around 2015 that the Lord opened my eyes to the truth that I am saved by His grace alone, through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
I started attending TVC in 2015, and what brought me here is a story that I would love to share with you face-to-face. I can sum it up with Proverbs 19:21: “Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.”

If you had to give a TED Talk, what subject would you choose to speak on, and why?
I’d talk about this quote from my hero, Wendell Berry: “It is easy for me to imagine that the next great division of the world will be between people who wish to live as creatures and people who wish to live as machines.”

If you were to have your childhood dream job, what would your job be?
No idea. I had terrible dreams as a child.

Favorite Hobby:
I love spending time outside. The perfect day for me would start with a hike in the woods, followed by reading a good book on the porch, and ending around a campfire under the stars.
