Life Story

I grew up going to church in a small town in Oklahoma. At the age of nine I accepted Christ, attended my church’s baptismal class and was baptized. I didn't really mature much as a believer until high school, when I started to take my faith more seriously. I was given a copy of Good News for Modern Man, a paraphrase of the New Testament, and began reading it regularly. This led me to a much better understanding of what God had done for me through Christ. I also began to pray regularly for the first time. One of the biggest answers to my prayers came when my future wife moved to our town. We became friends and then started dating. We married during the summer before our senior year of college.

After graduating from Oklahoma State University, I was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Air Force. We moved to Georgia, where I was trained as a pilot. That year of training was what I refer to as our wild year. It was probably mild by others' standards, but it was a time when we really were not living for the Lord. That year convinced me that I didn't want to stay on that path. We were blessed to have godly influences in the many places we lived during our 22 years of active duty. After retiring from the Air Force, I went into the airline industry to continue my flying career.

My wife, Lorie, and I have have three grown children who live nearby. They have blessed us with seven grandchildren.

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village is for us to be doers of the Word and not merely hearers. I love our church's mission statement that we bring glory to God by making disciples and living in a gospel-centered manner in every aspect of our church and personal lives.
