The church is the natural soil of theology.

Herman Bavinck

We believe the future of theological education is in the church. If you desire to know more about God, His story and how you fit into it, the Training Program is for you. Throughout this year-long discipleship program, you’ll learn to participate in God’s story through His Word. You will learn how God's story informs your beliefs and how to apply those beliefs to every sphere of your life as you are sent out as a disciple of Jesus Christ to your neighbors and the nations.

Program Duration

The program lasts one year, with a fall semester (August–December) and a spring semester (January–April). Class sessions are comprised of lecture, cohort discussion and formation exercises. We realize the Training Program is a big commitment, and we ask all participants to attend each week and complete any work required outside of class time.

Program Costs

The Training Program is open to anyone in the church who wants to be involved. The cost of the program is $300. The cost of the seminary track is $1,500. The program is primarily for members of The Village Church. If you are applying from another local church and you are accepted into the Training Program, the cost is $600 or $1,800 for the seminary track. Limited scholarships are available; please contact us for more information.

Curriculum

The program’s curriculum seeks to equip believers in three areas of discipleship—Christian story, Christian belief and Christian formation. By weaving these three elements together, we employ a holistic approach to discipleship, where men and women have the opportunity to grow in their love for God, Scripture, and God’s mission.

2022–2023 Training Program

If you are a seminary student (or hope to be one), you can receive credit toward a degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary or Dallas Theological Seminary.
