Life Story

I was born and raised in Lewisville, Texas and I have three brothers and one sister. My family began attending The Village Church, Highland Village First Baptist Church at the time, in the summer of 1996 as I transitioned from elementary to middle school. Throughout middle school and high school I started looking for my identity as most teenagers do. During that time I experimented and became involved in activities that are every parent's worst nightmare. During that time I still made good grades and appeared to be living a good life, but I was good at hiding my true inner self by living multiple lives at home, school and church.

During the summer between my sophomore and junior year in high school, I began to fall into a depression and wasn't satisfied with what life had to offer. That summer, my parents forced me to go on an annual mission trip to Nuevo Laredo, Texas, that the church had been taking for a couple of years. It was on that trip that God began to woo me, and it is in this same trip that I met my now beautiful wife, Angela. Through a year and a half of dating Angela and through the friendship of the Student Pastor at the time, God opened the eyes and ears of my heart and soul to Him. I was baptized and confirmed that Jesus Christ was my Lord and Savior half way through my senior year of high school.

After high school I pursued a degree at Texas A&M. Even though I had started a relationship with God, I was still pursuing my dream of becoming an engineer and making a crazy amount of money. During my first year at A&M, God let me know that wasn't His will for me, and I felt the calling to pursue ministry as a career choice. I came back from Texas A&M and began attending The University of North Texas pursuing a degree in Business Administration. I also joined The Village staff that summer as a student ministry intern. After a year of serving the Student Ministry, I left to join the staff as the Missions Pastor of The Village's first church plant, Providence Church in Little Elm, Texas. I was there for two years and then rejoined The Village Church's staff in 2007 and I am now serving as the Facilities Director.

Hope for The Village Church

My hopes and desires for The Village Church are to continue spreading the gospel one person at a time and changing the city from within. I love seeing The Village Church carry out what we say we're supposed to do, instead of just talking about it. I hope that continues, but at the same time I hope we remain authentic as a church body, not watering down the gospel to merely attract crowds, but to see lives changed by it.
