Life Story

I grew up and spent most of my life in the happening town of Wichita Falls, Texas. I couldn't have asked for better parents and tried my best to be a good older brother to my little bro, Patrick. My only complaint growing up was that I couldn't have a BB gun. Other than that, every need and want was always met with love and kindness.

In between soccer and baseball practices, I learned my Bible stories and VBS songs at a warm and friendly Baptist church just down the road from my home. And I vaguely remember responding to an invitation to receive Christ the summer before my ninth birthday. I was baptized and have no doubt that the truth of the gospel and what Jesus had done for me had settled in my mind, but honestly feel like that's about as far as it made it. I just wanted Jesus to save me from the scary place called Hell that I heard about during Vacation Bible School.

It wasn't until my senior year in high school that I was captured by the love of Christ, and the knowledge of the gospel that I'd had since childhood penetrated my heart. It happened at a Saturday night high school Bible study that I was reluctantly attending with some new friends. All it took was seeing the genuine love for God and each other that these students had to open up my eyes to the void in my heart. I remember singing along to the last song of the set, "Sanctuary," and sensing the presence of God all around me and in me. It was an amazing feeling.

Since then I've had my ups and downs, but with the help of other believers and the work of the Holy Spirit, I've been passionately pursuing Christ and trying to count everything else as loss. I guess if I had a "life-verse," that would be it.Philippians 3:7, “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.”

These days I enjoy spending my time at home with my beautiful wife, Ashley, and our kids and spending time in the community trying to fulfill my calling and desire to see teenagers fall in love with Christ.

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village Church is that, with the guidance and direction from older men and women, this generation of teenagers would fall madly in love with Jesus Christ.
